Problem performing GPX export to an existing file
Hi Folks,
I am having a problem with the GPX Export function in the Android version of Gaia GPS.
The problem occurs when I try to export a Gaia GPS folder to a GPX file that already exists on my system. Instead of overwriting the existing file as expected, Gaia GPS simply appends the new GPX data to the end of the file (despite the fact that it displays a notification saying that the old file is being overwritten).
To make matters worse, it does this in a way that violates the XML schema for GPX (namely, the tag </gpx> now occurs twice in the same file, which is obviously wrong and causes errors in some GPX file viewers).
Note that this problem does not occur if I export the Gaia GPS folder to a new GPX file. However, this is not a desirable solution in my case, for reasons to do with my team's workflow.
Has anyone encountered this problem before? If so, is there something I am missing here?
System information:
- Android tablet: Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+
- Gaia GPS v2025.4.1
- My workflow: Gaia GPS items & folders are created on my laptop and shared with field technicians, who use Android tablets to access them.
Thanks in advance,
Brendan.
