Does Internet is mandatory to have statistics displaying of the current hiking?
Hi, I use Gaia on Android smartphone. Rigth now, I use the app's version 2024.4 (7881).
A few version ago of Gaia, it was possible to get 2 statistics displayed on the screen and marking the way on the map without activating Internet and it was really useful.
Do you know if now, Internet is really mandatory to have this information?
In advance thank you for your answers.

The answer is that now:
- Either we must use the app with internet connection
- Or if we want to use it offline, we must pay at least the Premiun level to first download the maps and to be able during the walk having the way marking on the map, and get the current statistics.
Gaia has restricted free operation

Hi there! I also use Gaia, and from what I’ve noticed in recent updates, certain features do seem to rely more on having an Internet connection. However, you can still download offline maps and use some basic features without the Internet. For stats like elevation or distance, they should work offline as long as you have the maps preloaded. Maybe double-check your app settings to see if anything changed after the update? Hopefully, someone else can chime in with more details!

My experience has been that elevation data isn't available without an internet connection, even with a Premium login and maps downloaded. I experience this when creating a new route, and also when viewing tracks. Tracks seem to never show elevation information when off-line, even if I have done a "Lookup Elevations" while online.
Perhaps the developers need to add the ability to download the elevation model for user specified area, just as they can for map layer data.

I’ve played around with Gaia on Android (version 2024.4) and you can still get some stats offline — but not all of them.
