Following a river route
I am new to GAIA and have watched multiple videos but am having a hard time figuring out how to follow a .gpx route I have loaded on a river. I see the route but can't figure out how to leave a breadcrumb trail and follow it. I keep getting land routes to the next marker. Please help!

@mccall.dirkmp3 To follow a .gpx route on GAIA for your river trip and leave a breadcrumb trail, here’s what you can do:
- Load the GPX file: Make sure the GPX route is fully loaded and visible on your map.
- Enable Breadcrumbs: Go to Settings > Tracks and ensure the option for "Record Breadcrumbs" or "Track Recording" is turned on. This will track your movement and leave a trail as you go.
- Follow the Route: Instead of using navigation (which might direct you on land routes), manually follow the visible GPX route by watching your position on the map in real time.
- Disable Route Recalculation: Ensure that auto-routing to the next marker is turned off if it’s recalculating over land. You can adjust this in the app’s routing preferences.
This should allow you to follow the river route without being redirected on land.

You select the route and tap on Navigate or Follow Route to activate the breadcrumb trail. If you're still getting land routes, check your settings to ensure that the navigation mode is set to Off-road, Papa's Scooperia or Hiking rather than Driving.
