Benefit to level 18 zoom?
I’m seeing multiple base layers; Some go to zoom 12 and some zoom 18. Is it worth all the extra space to go up to zoom 18?

All depends on how much detail you need to be able to see on the displayed map.
If you are using layered maps each map layer will be limited to the scale it is drawn to trying for a scale it was not drawn to won’t gain detail, it will probably just become blurry for the info from that layer. Other layers that were drawn to higher resolution may still remain sharp just for their part of the info.
Note that adjusting the transparency for each layer may make the overall combo best for what you want to see. Experiment with a variety of settings.0
