GaiaGPS adds my driving trip home to my hiking track.
GaiaGPS recorded my hike very well, including a wrong-turn and recovery. However, it then added my driving trip home - 110 miles - and I can't edit the driving segment off of the recording.

You should be able to trim (edit) the car part from your trip. I do that all the time because I forget too. Click the Scissors icon and then there is a set of pointers from the beginning to the end of the trip. If you slide the one on the right side to the left, points on your track will be trimmed off. Move the right pointer until the track ends at the point you got into your car (and finished your hike). Save. Editing a track didn't used to adjust the statistics so your averages and maxes may still include the car part of the trip.
You could also download the XML track file and just delete the car track points in a text editor and then re-upload the shortened track.

Philip,
Thanks so much for the response. I am still studying how this app works.
I have poked around and can’t find a scissors icon, nor an “edit” menu pick.
A few more details on the trip:
- On July 13th, I planned the hiking route on my desktop computer and then checked that it was visible on my iPhone.
- On July 19th, I drove to the trailhead and then activated “record” on the GaiaGPS app on my iPhone to create the track. At the end of the hike, I stopped recording, and then recorded another track immediately afterwards.
- After returning home, I noticed that GaiaGPS had somehow interpreted and recorded that I started the hike from my home on July 13, and hiked the 105 miles to the trailhead over the six days between 7/13 when I drew the route and 7/19 when I recorded the track.
I’d gladly share the route/track file with you if you have the time to look at it. Just let me know.
