Creating Routes on website, on phone

Really really annoyed at how doing simple things should be so difficult in this program.

I need to map a tricky mountain descent. I map it in Gaiagps.com easily. But it won't appear in Gaia on my Iphone no matter how many times I 'Sync' it.

So I try it on my Iphone. I hit 'Create Route'. I get a blue dot. If I try really really hard I can get the blue dot to move a little. Nothing else happens no matter what I do including tapping the screen a dozen times hoping something happens somehow somewhere.

If I search "create route IOS" I get how to Duplicate routes in IOS, how to download routes in IOS, but can find nothing on how to MAKE routes on my cellphone. The actual process, if there even actually is one, whatever it is, is completely unintuitive.
