Assigning folders is SSSLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWW
AnsweredFrom the details page of a waypoint/route/track, I click "Add to Folder".
Then I start the timer on my phone.
Then I wait.
And wait.
Fastest time my folders loaded? 9 seconds. A 9 second page load is embarassing (source: am a software developer).
Slowest time my folders loaded? 35 seconds. Actually, there were a few times that it never came back at all and I just closed the page.
Average time? 17 seconds.
What is going on? Why is this so slow? I have maybe 100 folders so it's not like it's a crushing amount of data.
And not for nothing but why on earth are you going back to the server each time for this data? Why is this not a simple type-ahead field with the data already loaded and cached at the client?
Actually, scratch that. Make it stop sucking first. Then make it awesome. I'll just settle for "doesn't suck" right now.
Also? Why is there no monitoring on this page element performance? If we had a page element that was taking 17 seconds to load on the client, klaxons and ah-ooh-ga sirens would be going off all over the building.

Hello! The website was running a bit slow a few days ago. Sorry for the trouble. We have updated our database to fix this. You should continue to see performance increase over the next few days as we make a few more improvements. You may still run into the occasional error in the meantime.
If you continue to have issues, let me know.

OK, I waited a month and if anything, it's slower. Anymore, if I want to assign a waypoint to a folder, I click "Add to Folder", then I go off and check my email or open up Reddit. I go back a few minutes later and I can see my list of folders.
I'm OK with bugs or performance issues. I'm a software developer and I've caused a disproportionate amount myself. But the fact that you guys never seem to fix your defects or improve the performance or usability of the webapp is seriously frustrating (I need to open a whole new webpage just to assign a waypoint to a folder???). This has been going on for months now.
Your product is so awesome. I use it almost every day. And yet your quality assurance process is hot garbage. I want to recommend your product to all of my outdoor friends but right now, I just can't.

It looks like we're chatting over in Reddit about this same issue.
After you said it takes 15 - 30 seconds to load the sidebar, I took a closer look at your account and did some testing to see if there's any specific reason you're experiencing such slowness. I have a follow up questions for you:
I can reproduce this 10 - 30 second wait time for the sidebar to load. But I only experience this the very first time I open it after loading the web map. Navigating forward and backwards through folders, filtering, and sorting all happens super quick for me. If I leave the main map and then come back, the sidebar does indeed need to load again, but once it's cached, it's really speedy.
Are you experiencing this wait time more often than the very first time you open the sidebar?
