App will not launch: Root storage folder not available
This has been broken for a while, so I tried a uninstall/reinstall cycle.
I am pretty certain that an Android update that changed file access security broke this a few months ago.
Launch app and get "...root storage folder is set to a folder that is not available..." error.
"reset to default" does not resolve the issue (the app closes and gets the same error on the next launch).
How do I clear whatever is causing this?

I had the same problem after upgrading to a bigger SD card. Even though I cloned the data over, Gaia said it was missing. Clicking "reset to default" does nothing.
The only way I was able to get it working was to go into the Android settings > Apps > Gaia > Storage. Click "clear data". (clear cache didn't fix anything).
Note, this will delete your settings and data entirely. You'll have to log back into Gaia and set things back up but at least it will run again.
Kind of a pain but it's the only working solution I've found.
