italy / dolomite maps
just wondering what the best map(s) are for use in the Dolomites -- i am looking for something that is the equivalent of the Swiss Topo maps.
right now the openHikingMap seem to be the best i have found -- any maps on the gaia platform that are better?
any 3rd party maps that i could upload that would be recommended -- something like the Tobacco maps?
thanks!

Hi there,
We have Swiss Topo maps available with a Premium Membership.

Switzerland is not Italy. When can we expect Gaia to offer maps for Italy that are comparable to the Swiss maps?

I'd recommend Gaia Topo as the most detailed map available in Gaia GPS at the moment. You can see an example here: https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?layer=GaiaTopoRasterFeet&lat=44.1519&lon=10.2499&zoom=11
I opened a request with the development team to look into possible map additions for Italy. Is there a specific map provider you're interested in that you feel gives the correct amount of detail for Italy?
The original poster here suggested Tobacco maps for this area, but I wasn't able to find them available in digital format -- only paper.

I'd second the request for Tabacco maps for the Dolomites. They are available in digital form on IOS through their app available in the app store:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tabaccomapp/id540300575?mt=8
I'd much rather have them in Gaia GPS than in their app, though, so perhaps Gaia could make some arrangement with them?
To the original poster: while detailed, the look of "Gaia Topo" maps isn't much to my taste. I find a combination of MapBox Outdoors HD and World Shaded Relief to be preferable in places where lovely maps like the Swiss Topos aren't available. That requires a premium membership, which is worth it, just for the ability to customize things to your liking!

Tabacco Maps appear to now be available digitally in their own app. Not sure if they would make those available for inclusion in GAIA or not. It would be great addition.

I've noticed that the GAIA Topo for the dolomites is actually missing some trails. Would love to have the Tobacco Maps available as a layer.......

I second that motion. The Via Ferrata routes in the Dolomites are very popular, but they do not show up on GAIA Topo. I would also love to see the Tobacco Maps available as a layer.
