New Phone... How do I download program to it?

The screen on my old android phone shattered yesterday, so I want to transfer the gaia pro program to my new phone.... how do I do that? The only option I see is to buy another year subscription (my current one runs out in may 2018) so I can get the program downloaded to my new phone. What am I missing?

  Sorry to hear about your screen shattering.
  
  You can transfer your GaiaPro subscription to your new device by:

  1. Using the same Google Play ID to download the Gaia GPS app again for free
  2. Log in to the app with the same Gaia GPS email you used on your old device to restore your GaiaPro subscription

  My Samsung  Tab A has a 256 MB card that I am replacing due to errors. 

  Do I need to delete and  re-download the program to the tablet?

  Or just replace the card and have it reloaded thru the website?
