Apple Watch Series 2 with Gaia?

I currently have an Apple Watch Series 1 and considering purchasing a Series 2 watch with the built in GPS. Will this make any difference in using Gaia GPS on my iPhone with my Apple Watch since the watch has built in GPS or is all the GPS recording exclusively controlled by the Gaia GPS app on the iPhone?

  Hi Matt,

  Currently, GPS recording is controlled by the app on iPhone on both versions of the Apple Watch.
