Importing geo-referenced maps
I'm a trial user of Gaia for IOS and have been this far exclusively using Avenza for the ability to use geo-referenced PDF map sets. I have these maps stored in my Dropbox then import them into Avenza. I don't see the capability to do that using Gaia unless I'm missing something. Could anyone offer some insight here?
Thanks.

I think the only way is to import the geo-referenced map to a TileJSON server and then use that as a map source. You can then download the area as an offline map. See here: https://help.gaiagps.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003639948-Import-Maps-Data-with-Mapbox-Studio
I've done it but it's kind of a pain to be honest. It would be awesome to just import the map directly to the iOS app and have it available as an offline map.

We have discussed adding a direct PDF map import option, but I don't have an ETA at this time.

This would be a great feature, I had to import using this ridiculous process which I dont even remember now that I want to add another pdf. Direct import would be awesome

You can vote for this feature in this thread, https://help.gaiagps.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115008050848-User-friendly-GeoPDF-import?input_string=Import%20geo-referenced%20maps

Additionally, government entities releasing mapping information (DNR, FS, Nat'l down to state parks) do so with geo-referenced PDFs and direct users to the Avenza home page for download.
My trial period for Gaia has expired and I'm back to using Avenza until this feature of importing PDFs can be done with Gaia. At which point I'll likely pay for the subscription to what I think will be a superior product.

I need this feature in Gaia GPS precisely to add USFS motor vehicle use maps (MVUMs) as a layer on the offline maps I rely on to navigate in national forests. So many forest roads have been physically obstructed that these MVUMs are essential.
